“I was driving on the highway and when the vehicle in front of me stopped short my Kia would stop I had to swerve to the side of the road to stop. I noticed smoke from the hood so I waited until it stopped and slowly moved into the already slowed traffic and went home park the vehicle and reported to Kia but they continue to give me the run around and not offer repairs unless I paid for it”
NHTSA complaint #11388417, filed 2021-01, 69,000 miles“While coming to a stop with the brake pedal engaged the engine started to accelerate. I stood on the brake but the car kept creeping forward. I threw the shifter into nuetral and then into park. The engine quit accelerating and every thing worked as it was suppose too. I came within a couple of inches of the car infront of me.”
NHTSA complaint #11165746, filed 2019-01, 31,200 miles“Takata recall while driving my car, it completely shut off in the middle of the road. It was almost like it was out of gas but had a full tank gas. We tested the battery also. It still failed to start back. It would not start back after multiple attempts and I had to get it towed yesterday. The mechanics I had it towed to says they think it may have something to do with the engine but are unsure.”
NHTSA complaint #11231283, filed 2019-07, 110,000 miles“I have a 2016 Kia Sorento that stalls at low speed. It's like you turn the switch off, and then after a few seconds, it surges forward. It has done it while entering traffic, and almost caused an accident. I have taken it to the dealer several times, and they say they can't do anything because it does not throw a code. There was a recall on the 2016 models for a faulty accelerator module, but my VIN was not included in it.”
NHTSA complaint #11355363, filed 2020-09, 71,115 miles“On 6 separate occasions I had my cruise control on on the highway.after either touching my brake or touching the cancel button the control cancelled itself.however 5 times going up the hill by my house and once on a side street the cruise control engaged itself and started to speed up I assume to highway speed.at all times I touched the brake or cancel button and it shut off. …”
