“The air bag light in my 2007 Kia Sportage keeps coming on for no reason. I had this problem occur three (3) times this year twice on the driver's side and once one the passenger's side. The dealership keeps saying you have to sit in the seat a certain way so the light won't come on and recognize your weight. I am over 200 lbs. So I don't understand how the seat does not recognize I am seating in it. I believe there is a fault with the air bag system. I have read about air bag light problems in other Kia models. …”

“2007 Kia Sportage hydroplaned, skidded off the road and flipped 2-3 times, landing on its wheels. The car was damaged on all sides, front and rear. The car is equipped with 8 air bags and not one deployed. The driver door opened and was mangled during the occurrence. This is a serious safety issue with this vehicle.”

“One morning, the vehicle was stationary on my drive way. I have noticed my car airbag yellow light is on and it has been on since december 15, 2015. I know its a safety issue and I am worried about it. I feel it may be a default on the airbag.”

NHTSA complaint #10817755, filed 2016-01

“My Kia Sportage air bag light on the driver side won't come on for a few seconds. It won't come on at all. I have read other people complaints about their air bag light. There is a problem and it needs to be recalled. Kia dealership need to stop putting it on the owners expense. My husband spoke to someone at the Kia dealership concerning the air bag light and he was told they need to put it on a machine to analyst the problem. I'm sure they already know about this problem ? To analyst it is going to cost us some money. Why ???”
