“Car wouldn’t accelerate, could be problem if turning left into traffic. Trip to Florida, 1000 miles, the Engine accelerated by itself, one time the mph was into the 90’s before I got it under control. This happened 3 times on my drive Florida from Indiana”

NHTSA complaint #11563052, filed 2024-01

“I was driving down the highway at the posted 70mph limit in medium traffic. The car started to sputter and wouldn't accelerate. The car started to decelerate and cars coming from behind had to quickly swerve to avoid me. The cab then filled with the strong smell of gasoline and I became light headed. The car reduced to around 10mph and I pulled off the highway into a gas station and waited for a tow truck. We towed the vehicle to a Kia dealership and they claimed to have fixed it. A similar circumstance has occured 3 more times since that first issue. …”

NHTSA complaint #11712744, filed 2026-01

“Purchased the vehicle 2nd hand January 29th 2025. Since then she has been in and out of multiple shops including Kia. Check engine light, loss of power on fwy, shifting/brake changes from a stop. From jerking, lunging, studder, taking off fast, not wanting to go at all. I was on these dips that I encounter almost daily and the collision warning went off. There wasnt anything in front of me. 2 weeks later I was cut off and had to swerve to avoid. Collision warning DID NOT go off. Driving on the fwy and the gas pedal pulled away from my foot as if it was accelerating. …”

NHTSA complaint #11709113, filed 2026-01

“This is a new vehicle with only 1200 miles on it. I was told by Gunther Kia in Ft. Lauderdale that my car could be serviced at any Kia dealership. The car has developed a fuel injection problem. When in heavy traffic with a lot of stop/go, the fuel injection does not seem able to keep up with the aceleration and deceleration required. The car hesitates. As the trip progresses the hesitation progresses. I was trying to enter traffic on the interstate and nearly had a collision because the car would not accelerate quick enough.”

NHTSA complaint #11536127, filed 2023-08

“The car is currently in the shop at Jim Shorkey Gainesville Kia and is available for inspection. They have contacted me to tell me the transmission/engine failed. I was driving on interstate when I suddenly lost the ability to accelerate and was forced to get off of the highway. After coming to a complete stop I pressed on the gas pedal but the car would still not accelerate. I tried putting into park and back into drive and that did not work. I tried putting it into manual mode and it did go forward but every gear change was loud, jerky, and rough. …”
