“Land rover disco 2 2000 ABS light comes on, and the ABS becomes inoperative. I did speak with a mechanic in my province and they have a lot of problem with this part they changed many of them charging the clients. There is a website specialized on Land Rover and many many many have the same problem. Yes it is a default in my point of view.”

NHTSA complaint #10146327, filed 2005-12, 60,000 miles

“I have a problem with the ABS system on my 2000 Land Rover discovery. From what I've read, this is a very common problem that has not been covered by any warranty or recall. The repair is over $700 to be fixed properly at a dealership. Land rover should stand behind their product more, and fix this problem under a recall since it seems to be such a common problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10146321, filed 2005-12, 116,500 miles

“2000 Land Rover Discovery Ii. 1st I had the service engine soon light on and after spending almost $600.00 to extinguish the light, I drove the vehicle for (4) days, now all the lights are on. I checked on a Land Rover forum and they said the ABS / tc lights are an ongoing problem with this vehicle and there should be a recall. Everyone is spending a fortune. My Land Rover just came out of warranty (of course!).”

NHTSA complaint #10148287, filed 2006-01, 62,000 miles

“My wife and I took our '00 Land Rover Discovery Ii to anza borrego, ca for camping. To get to the campsite we had to take unpaved trails of certain difficulty rating. Most of which were rated 4-5 with 10 being the most difficult. All of a sudden, the ABS/tc/hdc warning lights came on particularly on certain sections of the trail where there were inclines, ruts and gulleys. We got stuck so many times and even at one point almost tipped one side as only one wheel has power and all three were rather stationary. …”

NHTSA complaint #10143842, filed 2005-11, 58,990 miles

“On 7/1/05 I was driving my 2000 Land Rover discovery series ii on the left lane of I-75 s, in clear weather, on dry pavement, near the 68 mile marker in kentucky(copassengers-my wife & son) enroute to tennessee. Around 1.45 pm traffic ahead started slowing down. I was driving at about 60 MPH, and applied the brake; the vehicle immediately started fishtailing and swerving badly. I did not feel the pulsing of the ABS; the vehicle swerved across the right lane & shoulder, hit the guard rail on the right, bounced back, & tipped over on to the right (passenger side) on the shoulder. …”
