“I was driving from westchester county, ny to long island via I-695 heading toward the throgs neck bridge on 12/12/18. I was in the left lane just before the last exit before the bridge when my dashboard went dark, the red battery light (below the speedometer) came on, I lost power and steering. Luckily a small shoulder opened up and I was able to tug the wheel left to get into the shoulder before my car completely rolled to a stop. I avoided a crash but it was luck. I had to be towed off the highway and back to the dealer. Clearly this was no battery issue (as driving recharges a batter). …”
NHTSA complaint #11162489, filed 2018-12, 31,000 miles“Was driving speed limit and moving with traffic on major city road when battery light came on and car completely shut off. Was able to move to the right side of the road but still in the middle of oncoming traffic during rush hour. Car immediately went into park and could not move or turn on. Got a note on the dash that system was shutting down. Car had just been serviced 4 month prior.”
NHTSA complaint #11307322, filed 2020-02, 28,000 miles“I have received many faults since owning this car (purchased: 10/19/2019); child safety-restraint fault, gear-box failure, turn signal in-operable intermittently Occurred approx. 11/2/2019 - The failure in turn signals intermittently almost resulted in a collision with someone speeding down the turning lane as I was merging over, the other drivers speed required him to travel into oncoming lanes to safely get around me without collision. Taken to Land Rover servicing center and in their possession from approx. …”
NHTSA complaint #11432229, filed 2021-09“BLOWER MOTOR stopped working. Due to the lack of forced air in the cabin, the windows and windshield fog up and it is impossible to see safely. Blower motor or blower motor resistor has failed providing no heat, no air conditioning, no air at all. Land Rover Service repair shop confirmed this is a $6,000+ repair due to needing to remove the dash completely (10 hours of labor). During rainy season, condensation builds in vehicle causing mold.”
NHTSA complaint #11721739, filed 2026-03“The contact owns a 2017 Land Rover Discovery Sport. The contact stated that while the transmission was shifted to drive(D), the vehicle failed to respond immediately. Additionally, the vehicle lost motive power while driving. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The following messages were displayed: Gear Box Fault , Forward Collision Fault , Hill Descent Fault , and several other unknown messages were displayed. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where it was determined that the body harness needed to be replaced. …”
