Example complaints

Transmission and drivetrain: “Second rear differential needing to be replaced after <24k miles. The first was replaced after 68k miles. There is a loud grinding noise coming from the rear of the truck. Took the vehicle to the dealership and they advised what I thought that it was. Land rover will not stand behind the part, tells me that it is over the 1 year warranty period. Too much of this part going bad and an expensive replacement.”

NHTSA complaint #11034337, filed 2017-10, 85,465 miles

Electrical system: “Continuing to have endless problems of the battery draining for unknown reasons. When the battery drains too low the vehicle then goes into crash mode and I have to have it towed and the computer flashed to have the codes reset or else it's not drivable. It's happened on multiple occasions since I have owned the vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #11052699, filed 2017-12, 95,000 miles

Suspension: “Rear differential - noticed that the vehicle had started to make humming noise and it seems the noise was coming from the rear of the vehicle. Land rover shop checked and said the noise is coming from the tires. Replaced all 4 tires ($1500) and still the noise remained. Got it checked from two other Land Rover shops and both reached the same conclusion - rear differential / bearing failure!! My LR2 has never gone off-road. I called the Land Rover dealer and he quoted $8900 to replace the entire unit!! Unbelievable!! Online research shows this is a very common problem LR2 owners are facing. …”

NHTSA complaint #10822329, filed 2016-01, 42,000 miles

Wheels: “Tpms sensor / valve stem made of aluminum type metal. Cracked in half and fell out due to corrosion. Resulted in immediate flat tire which needed to be replaced due to ride on damage. Both wife and kids stranded in car until I could change to spare. Both Land Rover and dealer in edison deny knowing anything about this failure and insist it is the first of it's kind. I find that hard to believe. They should pay for a new tire and 4 new sensors to be installed. This is dangerous and needs to be addressed.”
