“Approximately one month and 900 miles into driving my new LR4, the check engine light came on, and I could hear a loud fan running. I called the dealer and was informed it was likely a minor fault in the gas tank cap and to stop by for the error code to be checked at my convenience. When I visited the dealer, the code indicated a coolant temperature issue. The service advisor cleared the code and said that the fault was likely just the vehicle breaking in and to return if the check engine light came back on again. …”
NHTSA complaint #10701464, filed 2015-03, 900 miles“I have a 2015 LR4 with 103k miles. Out of nowhere, engine started making a loud clicking noise. No warning lights, car up to this point had been driving perfectly. Then low coolant and oil signals came on the next day, but no signs of leaking. Added some oil and coolant to get it to a mechanic ( stopped driving it once the noise started). Upon next start up, plume of white smoke. Final verdict was an overheated engine and that it was done. I had pumps replaced 2 years ago, regular service and maintenance.”
