“My dash panel and door handles are melting in the sun. The dash panel is especially problematic as it is extruding a shiny clear tar like substance that causes a significant glare visibility problem while driving into the sun, causing me to nearly miss another vehicle turning in front of me at an intersection.”

NHTSA complaint #11191971, filed 2019-03, 205,000 miles

“As I was driving into my home garage, my car suddenly accelerated on its own and eventually crashed in the back wall of the garage. Depressing the brakes failed to stop the vehicle before crashing. Prior to the crashing incident, the unintended acceleration happened at least two other times but the vehicle eventually stopped before an impact. Around the end of march 2014, my brake lights came on and I then took the car to toyota for repairs. Thereafter, I reported the crash incident to Lexus who then had the vehicle inspected on april 9, 2014. …”

NHTSA complaint #10641793, filed 2014-10, 1 miles

“While parked on a sloped driveway with front of the car higher than the back, I opened the trunk and started to reach for an item in the trunk when the trunk lid came down on the back of my head. When I lifted the trunk lid so I can move away and then let go, it slowly came back down and stopped with slight clearance between the trunk lid and the bottom portion of the trunk. I took my car to a dealer for a warranty repair. They told me that the trunk lid is heavy so this is a normal behavior. I firmly believe that this is a defect and should be fixed by the manufacturer.”

NHTSA complaint #10396971, filed 2011-04, 37,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2008 Lexus LS460. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, he noticed that there was a shiny glare coming from the dashboard that obstructed his visibility. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the manufacturer's recall for the dashboard had expired in March 2021. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 279,000.”

NHTSA complaint #11431104, filed 2021-08, 279,000 miles
