“My dash panel and door handles are melting in the sun. The dash panel is especially problematic as it is extruding a shiny clear tar like substance that causes a significant glare visibility problem while driving into the sun, causing me to nearly miss another vehicle turning in front of me at an intersection.”

NHTSA complaint #11191971, filed 2019-03, 205,000 miles

“My car has a sticky dashboard and door panels as well as the black button that opens the trunk when the weather is hot or humid. Anything that is made of that material is sticky and gets this weird black stuff everywhere. The shiny reflective surface that the dashboard is a safety hazard for myself and other drivers. Every time I get in my car I cough, so I am afraid that harmful chemicals may be emitted. Please help investigate!”

NHTSA complaint #11048326, filed 2017-11, 36,000 miles

“Driver side front window has a whistling noise that is a hazard due to the db level at 55 MPH. I have spoken several times with clear lake Lexus and they have not offered a solution. This appears to be a very common issue with the 2008 Lexus 460 (Lexus talk). There appears to be a fix by installing a triangle between the mirror and door.”

The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact that the manufacturer's recall for the dashboard had expired in March 2021. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 279,000.”
