“2010 Lexus LS460 awd, after making a u turn steering went non responsive for several seconds almost causing an accident. Called Lexus USA and they have no firm date for recall parts availability. Problem is worse than reported.”

While turning approximately 5 MPH, the contact had to use force to manually return the steering wheel to the forward position. The failure occurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer who stated that the vehicle was fine. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 100 and the current mileage was approximately 6,000.”

The contact stated that he also noticed that the steering wheel was no longer centered. The contact was able to continue to drive the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure reoccurred while driving and the warning message remained illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 10V218000 (Steering) because the recall had expired. …”
