“This model hesitates in changing (hunting) gears on hard accelerations. Three times I have been in near accidents on merging into freeways, changing lanes from a straight path or from corner turns. The car responds very slow on hard acceleration. The web is full of similar incidents with this model car. I suspect it has something to do with Lexus' eight speed transmission and how their software is integrated with the powertrain. Lexus had a fix for this problem but did not quite fix it completely and they insist the car is working as designed. …”
NHTSA complaint #10513063, filed 2013-05, 2,060 miles“After an oil change at the dealer, the car is unable to accelerate, sluggish, and the powertrain acts lethargic, particularly when trying to enter the freeway or merge into traffic. The dealer has performed a software update, however the problem still persists. This only happened after and oil change. Several other ls460 owners I know complain about the same phenomenon. Lexus has no answer.”
