“Water accumulates on floor front and rear. Passenger sidethe car can be in motion or stationary during rain or going through car wash. We had a 2001 towncar with the exact same problem. After googling this issue I find there are many autos with this problem. What we spend for these autos this should have been resolved by manufacturer years ago!”

NHTSA complaint #10970379, filed 2017-04, 100,000 miles

“I was stopped and entering a turn. There was no ice on the pavement. As I turned left the car accelerated and the brakes became unresponsive. The car spun and hit a fire hydrant. This car at other times as suddenly accelerated, but I was always able to apply the brakes and it calmed down in a few seconds.”

NHTSA complaint #10499578, filed 2013-02, 29,000 miles

“4 inches of rainwater in the rear passenger floor. Via the net this is a common problem with all divisions of ford's luxury cars 1998 to 2007. Youtube has several how to videos with 5,000 to 15,000 hits (keywords: Lincoln Town Car water leak). The sheer number of video hits gives insight to how vast this problem is. The gasket that ford makes for these cars deteriorates. The leak starts slow and mold spreads until someone sees inches of water in the rear passenger floor. My buddy followed repair video directions. Now the right rear is nice and dry to the touch*. …”

NHTSA complaint #10525316, filed 2013-07, 23,065 miles

“This safety issue was discovered yesterday. The passenger-side rear door will not unlock, either by manual attempt to raise the knob or by using the control buttons on the FOB nor at the driver's station. The window in that door also no longer responds to attempts to raise or lower it. Both my rear seat passengers had to enter using the driver's-side rear door. This creates a serious potential safety hazard by preventing rear-seat passengers exiting the vehicle near their closest door in an emergency. …”

NHTSA complaint #11523266, filed 2023-05

“My 07 Lincoln only has around 80,000 miles on it and has water leaks causing water to pool in the floor boards thereby causing the potential for rust, electrical issues and the hazards that could result therefrom. A quick online search will reveal to you that these leaks are incredibly common and very well known among Lincoln owners and dealers alike (very, very common problem due to manufacturer defects) but Ford refuses to do anything about it. Given how widespread this problem is it seems that the right thing to do would be for Ford to issue a recall and repair these things. …”
