“I am complaining about the transmission. I have had 3 transmissions to my car since I bought it. I am needing a 4th transmission. Shifts hard on downshifts to upshifts usually at 2nd gear. Makes a humming noise to the transmission. The dealer put 2 trans. In and the same is occurring again. …”
NHTSA complaint #10062031, filed 2004-03, 31,875 miles“I have a 2000 Mazda 626 with the cd4e ford transmission and I have had problems with the transmission for about 3 years now. I have done numerous research and took it to many shops and have come to the conclusion that this transmission is trash. This transmission war poorly built and they need to recall this as soon as possible. Mazda and ford should be held responsible for the bad engineering that has cost thousands of drivers problems and thousands of dollars in repairs. Someone needs to be held accountable and a recall needs to be done.”
NHTSA complaint #10310488, filed 2010-02, 90,000 miles“I own a 2000 Mazda 626 with only 90,000 miles. I have been stranded several times in this car and spent over $3000 parts and labor. I had to replace the catalytic converter, several sensors, master break cylinder, cv boots, and rack and pinion. Now I am having trouble with the transmission and the AC. The mechanic says I need to rebuild the trans and replace the AC compressor. This is another $3000 or more. I am very disappointed in this situation. I plead with you to take action on this. I have checked several web forums and found similar problems. …”
NHTSA complaint #10163371, filed 2006-07, 50,000 miles“I bought the vehicle in january of 2004 with 36,000 miles on it. The transmission stopped shifting into 1st and 2nd gears. The transmission was replaced in feb of 2005 with a rebuilt transmission by the dealer. Recently the car had the o/d light flash and it will not shift into gear. It will not engage in reverse. With 85,000 miles on the vehicle the transmission now needs to be rebuilt again after less than 3 years.”
NHTSA complaint #10207694, filed 2007-11, 40,000 miles“Bought car used with 24,000 miles. Transmission went out at 30,000 miles. Found out 3 factory transmissions had be installed prior to 24,000 miles. Paid labor to have 4th transmission installed (30,000 miles). Front axel fell off - reason for gas comsuption going up (double normal use).”
