“The contact owns a 1995 Mazda b4000. The contact stated the key failed to release from the ignition. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic who confirmed the steering wheel needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not contacted regarding the defect. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 4,691.”
NHTSA complaint #10453759, filed 2012-04“Door ajar warning light and audible alarm do not go off when all doors are closed. Both door switches have been cleaned and replaced at least two times by the dealer. Problem usually reoccurs within a year from replacement. Mild heat/sunlight appears to contribute to the problem. Alarms continue to go off for 1-10 minutes after doors are closed. This may be more of an anti-safety issue, but the audible alarm is very annoying and makes it hard to concentrate on driving.”
