NHTSA complaint #10079765, filed 2005-02, 63,000 miles

“While driving 40 to 50 miles per hour, the automatic transmission started to shift gears (up and down violently) lurching and bucking. I also noticed that the overdrive off-light was flashing. I pushed the overdrive switch repeatedly without results. I stopped the truck and shut it off and then restarted it, and then the vehicle reset. Error code p0741 but no problem found or fixed. Dealers service invoice # macs94327. Told, if problem persist will at that time possibly need tcc solenoid.”

NHTSA complaint #747289, filed 2001-06

“Tl- the contact owns a 2001 Mazda b4000 cab plus. While driving in inclement weather, the contact began to lose control of the vehicle. He then engaged the electronic four wheel drive function but the function failed to activate. The dealer was contacted and advised the contact to purchase a new 4x4 control module. The manufacturer was also contacted but did not offer any assistance since the vehicle was no longer under warranty. No repairs were performed. The failure mileage was unknown. Kmj”

NHTSA complaint #10441509, filed 2011-12

“It has cut out on four occasions when the transmission is in neutral. Three times sitting in traffic where the driver was unaware until putting vehicle in gear to take off. The other occasion was while making a right turn with the clutch in and suddenly the power steering was gone since the truck was not running. Mazda has no idea of what problem is and expects owner to continue driving under these conditions. Has been to dealer three times for condition and examined by factory representative.”

NHTSA complaint #749351, filed 2001-07

“Consumer states that the clutch catches too quickly when gears are shifted and there is a loud clunk that can be felt and heard throughout the truck, consumer states it is metal hitting metal. Vehicle pulls to the right. Motor is missing and has no power. Drivers door flies open after going over bumps. Dealer refused to do anything about any of the problems and is stating that everything is normal. A service technician stated that it sounded like the clutch was not catching until the last minute, the jarring was the transmission after shifting and decelerating out of adjustment.”
