Example complaints

Fuel system: “Where the plastic center console meets the carpeting on the right side of the gas pedal, there is a gap. No less than three times in only two months while in motion have I gotten my shoe stuck in the plastic of center console when trying to take it off the gas pedal, leaving me unable to take my foot off of the gas pedal. Fortunately, I have been able to react quickly each time and shift into neutral, slamming on my break with my left foot. Very dangerous!”

NHTSA complaint #10959660, filed 2017-03, 4,000 miles

Engine: “I was in an accident at a very high speed. A driver didn't see me in his left side blind spot and was veering into my lane at 85-90mph. I swerved to the left to avoid the car and my car wouldn't straighten/I couldn't get back the control. I smashed the guardrail with the whole left side of my car and the car was deemed to be totaled by the insurance company. The airbags never deployed despite the high speed and impact of the accident.”

NHTSA complaint #11342747, filed 2020-08, 34,000 miles

Electrical system: “I have had this happen multiple times. I try to turn off the car and it will not shut off. It makes noises and beeps, but you can do nothing to turn off the car. This makes the battery die. The first time I freaked out and called Mazda headquarters. They got a tow truck sent to me and my car was taken to Brown's Mazda in Fairfax. They told me the battery was dead and that is why that happened. I have had my battery checked by them numerous times and they say it is A-OK and 100% okay, so how can this be. …”

NHTSA complaint #11439428, filed 2021-11

Other or unknown: “Warm air from the climate control vents- car is under 45,000 miles and needs a new evaporator- most cars will never need a new evaporator, especially one that is under four years old.”
