2018 Mazda CX-9 Technical Service Bulletins
470 technical service bulletins (TSBs) are on record for the 2018 Mazda CX-9. TSBs are notes manufacturers send to dealers about repair procedures for issues seen in the field. They are not recalls and do not by themselves mean a vehicle has a fault.
- 10237216May 24, 2023Engine cooling, Electrical system. If you encounter any type of electrical concern (e.g, dead battery, engine no start, DTC(s) stored...), interview the customer before proceeding with normal MGSS diagnosis by asking if any aftermarket devices have been installed. Aftermarket devices may be the cause of the electrical concern. Below are a few examples of unusual electrical concerns caused by aftermarket devices.
- 10237215May 17, 2023Wheels. Some automotive cleaning products contain strong acid or alkali. When these types of cleaners are used to clean the wheels on Mazda vehicles, the chemicals contents penetrate the clear coating of the wheel surface and damage the paint under the clear coating. The damaged area has the appearance of dark stains or discoloration.
- 10237199May 17, 2023Transmission and drivetrain. Some vehicles may experience the check engine light and automatic transaxle warning light ON with one or more of these DTCs stored in the TCM memory (P0842, P0847, P0872, P0877, P0780, P1738).
- 10237197May 9, 2023Electrical system. The Mazda DCA-8000 is required for all warranty battery testing. If the Mazda DCA-8000 is not used, incorrect battery testing may result in unnecessary battery replacement. Use the following test procedures in this Service Bulletin to test Mazda vehicle batteries and to generate a Warranty Code.
- 10235416Apr 28, 2023Electrical system. Some customers may experience electrical devices that cannot be charged through the rear console or the trunk side trim USB power outlet. This may be caused by an excessive external force applied to the USB power outlet. To eliminate this concern, the soldering strength of the USB port has been enhanced.
- 10235414Apr 3, 2023Steering. Some vehicles may exhibit wear/peel-off of the leather steering wheel surface causing a poor appearance. This concern may be caused by an insufficient wear resistance of the steering wheel surface.

NOTE: This could affect new vehicles just delivered to the dealer as well as customer vehicles. This concern is caused when the sliding bearing (1) in the coupling (2) is seized and causes the coupling component to fit loosely. The pinion shaft head (3) then contacts the differential case and causes a crack.
- 10232266Feb 3, 2023Engine cooling. Some customers may complain about a poor acceleration and rough idling or the CHECK ENGINE light ON with DTC P0301:00, P0302:00, P0303:00, P0304:00.NOTE: Only turbo engines are applicable; non-turbo engines are NOT applicable. In most cases, DTCs P030X stores, but sometimes not. Sometimes the CHECK ENGINE light does not recognize this engine concern.
- 10232300Feb 1, 2023Electrical system. Some customers may complain that the ambient temperature on the instrument cluster is displayed more than 50 °F (10°C) lower than the actual temperature, resulting in insufficient performance of the air conditioning. This is caused by inappropriate soldering in the ambient temperature sensor. To eliminate this concern, the soldering process has been enhanced since December 2021 at the supplier.
- 10230882Jan 27, 2023Transmission and drivetrain. The rear differential case could develop a crack in the case NOTE: This could affect new vehicles just delivered to the dealer as well as customer vehicles. This concern is caused when the sliding bearing in the coupling is seized and causes the coupling component to fit loosely. The pinion shaft head then contacts the differential case and causes a crack.
