Example complaints

Air bags: “The contact owns a 2005 Mazda MPV. The vehicle was traveling 40 MPH when the vehicle slid on the ice and crashed into the median onto the highway. The air bags did not deploy. This was the only time that the vehicle had been involved in a crash. The manufacturer told the contact that there was nothing they could do to assist him. The contact is concerned about the safety risk. The VIN was not available. The current and failure mileages were 45,000 .”

NHTSA complaint #10314547, filed 2010-02, 45,000 miles

Engine: “The idle air control valve on these vans is seriously flawed and is prone to failure which stalls the engine and puts occupants in peril at high rates of speed without power braking or steering. Once stalled, the engine can often fail to restart, leaving the driver unprepared and paralyzed to react. Background - approximately six months after purchasing our van used (2-3 yrs old / 30k miles), we began to experience significant issues with the vehicle stalling randomly after 6 months of owning. …”

NHTSA complaint #10498330, filed 2013-02, 40,000 miles

Engine cooling: “My Mazda 2005 MPV van engine shuts down completely when slowing down, slowing around corners and sitting at red lights. There does not seem to any spuddering or anything engine runs great. Loss of steering is the biggest issue when engine cuts off. I have seen a bunch of other complaints about the same problem on the same model van im sure there's lots more.”

NHTSA complaint #10349544, filed 2010-08, 70,000 miles

Brakes: “I was coming home from work doing the speed limit and my car would not stop I press the brake all the way to the floor and it still did not stop I pulled up my emergency brake and that did not work so finally I got the car to stop because I kept pumping the brakes and the car started slowing down and I threw it in park I was so scared I searched around for recalls on the brake and the emergency brake the only recall I seen was in 2017 in detroit. Please anything suggestions”
