“I have pictures of the fuel pump I took out of my 1992 Mercury Grand Marquis. The car had coughed to a stop and I suspected the fuel pump. There was no pressure in the fuel rail so I pulled the pump out of the tank. I checked the pump with a battery and it ran fine. Then I started looking at the fuses and found the 20a pump fuse blown. Obviously there was a short somewhere. As you can see by pic 2 the short occurred when the hot wire insulation was worn through on the float bracket. In order to blow a 20a fuse there must have been a spark. …”
NHTSA complaint #10227239, filed 2008-05, 162,000 miles“The consumer was concerned that if she was involved in a rear end collision, the vehicle would catch on fire. The dealer stated a recall had been issued, but only for police vehicles. The consumer is afraid to ride in the vehicle. (daughter minnie ormerod on behalf of mother rosalyn ormerod).”
NHTSA complaint #10024367, filed 2003-08, 91,000 miles“Fuel leakage occurred due to the brake line rubbing against the fuel tank which also caused the gas tank to corrode. Dealer installed the new brake line it also hit the gas tank.”
