“I only had my car 4 days when driving on the garden state parkway at approximately 60 MPH on a sunday with my grandchildren in the car. Luckily, I was in the slow lane when the SUV just shut off. I was able to pull onto the shoulder and restart the car. I was near an exit and proceeded down the ramp. The car again shut off at the bottom on the ramp. The check engine light stayed on. I called the dealer the next day (monday) and brought the car in on tuesday. It is now friday and I still do not have my car.”
NHTSA complaint #10162415, filed 2006-07, 110 miles“The contact owns a 2006 Mercury Mariner. While driving approximately 45 MPH, the vehicle stalled without warning. After restarting the vehicle, the instrument panel and gauge failed to operate. The failure occurred three times. On one occasion the vehicle would not start until several attempts were made. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer twice for the identical failure and they were unable to duplicate the problem. The failure progressed over a period of time. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.”
