Example complaints

Selected from NHTSA records; personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

“When pressing on brakes, consumer has to push brakes harder to get vehicle to stop, pedal almost goes to the floor. Also, brake lining is letting out some kind of oil getting on the hub caps. The customer states the stopping distance is greater now than when the vehicle was new. The problem reoccurs frequently and the customer suspects manufacturer flaw”

NHTSA complaint #872436, filed 2000-10

“When applying brakes at high speed vehicle would shake and vibrate. Rotors were out of round after brakes are used under normal driving conditions. Took vehicle to dealer, and they stated this was happening in all ford products. Manufacturer's defect.”
