Example complaints

One per model year, chosen for length and detail. Personal details are removed. They are consumer reports, not findings.

1999: “Driving in the rain headlights went out tried high beans came on went out, also, wipers. I pull leaver held in reset wipers with other hand. Then I pull down lever to signal too get off road nocking high beans off again. I almost hit gard rail, the lcd recall should be for all cars not just some my safty and others should have recalls.”

NHTSA complaint #10865158, filed 2016-05, 111,000 miles

2003: “My car failed inspection due to an erosion in the frame. I was told that it was the result of the air conditioner condensation dripping on it. As there was no issue in 2014 and I drove the car fewer that 8000 miles in the year, I am concerned about this issue. The car is garaged at all times and was driven very infrequently in the winter months. I have had it repaired and it has now passed inspection.”

NHTSA complaint #10723774, filed 2015-06, 138,000 miles

2004: “This Mercury along with countless others has the headlights go out as you drive down the road. If this is not a safety issue I don't know what is. I have to pull off the road and wait till they come back on. I called my lincoln dealer and they said it was $107/hour to diagnose the problem. If it is the lighting control module as it rumored to be the bad part, the cost is another $800. I think this should be a safety recall before people are killed.”
