1996: “The under hood wire harness burned up. This car has 89,000 miles and runs good. I heard there was a recall / TSB #( onp 99m03) on this car but ford will not honor it because the car is over 10 years old. I think ford should reimburse for repairs or buy back the car. This is a dangerous situation as the car will stall abruptly and lose power steering.”
NHTSA complaint #10254653, filed 2009-01, 89,000 miles1997: “My 97 Mercury Mystique has a bad brake fluid leak from a part on the brake line (pressure conscious release valve) that was recalled #06e022000. Fluid must be added every few days when the brake light comes on. Ford tells me there is no recall info for my car and won't do anything. They could not say if any recall work had been done on my car. Bottom line, this is not preventative, my car is dangerously leaking brake fluid from a recalled part.”
NHTSA complaint #10463487, filed 2012-06, 93,000 miles1999: “After the car was about 5 years old the dashboard warped. It came up about 3 inches and covers about 10% of the windshield. It also will not hold the defroster deflector trim so it had to be removed. I have not heard from ford (Mercury)about this problem and feel it is their problem to repair and not an expense I should have to pay.”
