“My 2007 Mercury Mountaineer never had any problems until recently, thought it was the transmission because of the way it drove. Took it to the mechanic and got transmission fluid put in but the problems remained the same and was told the transmission was fine. My thermostat housing unit was leaking (this is very common with these cars and very dangerous, needs immediate attention!) and had caused very expensive wiring issues. …”
NHTSA complaint #11043298, filed 2017-11, 130,000 miles“- seat ( driver's seat) automatically moves while driving causing a safety issues. - excess water leakage around left door jam in water run down into base of floor - water seepage around sun roof - tire sensor ( left)”
NHTSA complaint #10821871, filed 2016-01, 6,000 miles“While driving on freeway over a small crack, dashboard reported that rear driver side door became loose, had to pull over and re-close the door. I drive this route/lane everyday to work, it hasn' t happen for six months (that's when I bought my Mountaineer). Don't know if this is a random event or due to some design problem. It can be scary, what if the door became wide open while driving! Remember the door is closed before it became loose.”
