2009: “The passengers seat occupancy detector in my 2009 Mini cooper clubman s is not functioning and it won't allow any airbag to activate. The passenger airbag light is constantly on and it is a safety hazard and I will not drive the car with no working airbags. It started when I started the vehicle on 8/14 and replacement parts are on backorder.”

NHTSA complaint #11018736, filed 2017-08, 96,000 miles

2010: “The high pressure fuel pump (hpfp) failed at 88400 miles and I had to pay over $1300 to have it replaced. Mini cooper issued an extended warranty on select 2007-2009 models to replace the hpfp at no charge because of this hpfp problem in so many of their vehicles with the r14 engine. Our vehicle was manufactured in september of 2009. Mini cooper is saying that our vehicle is not covered by their warranty. …”

NHTSA complaint #10886280, filed 2016-07, 88,400 miles

2011: “My Mini cooper was rear ended, and I was pushed into another vehicle violently. Not a single airbag deployed, my seat fully reclined during the impact, and my head rest broke out of its base. Due to the severity of the impact, airbags should have deployed.”
