“The h-vac system does not work. When air conditioning is used water seeps into the floorboard and completely soaks the floor and mat, which creates a very rank odor. To correct this problem it will cost the consumer approximately $800.00. This is clearly an engineer defect/flaw. We were told by an Mitsubishi service rep that the following year (2005) it was corrected. Obviously Mitsubishi was aware of this problem. Why wasn't a recall done on this problem? I think it certainly warrants one. How many other people have been affected by this? …”

“Back tailgate window switch and back tailgate door latch/switch/handles of early 2004 Mitsubishi endeavors just fail with no warning and neither can be opened with or without key fob. After some searching I noticed on the internet that this is a common problem. This makes it not possible to access the spare tire, or in case of accident the rescue persons cannot access the car from the back door or window. I understand this has been an ongoing problem with the early 2004 models. I had to pay close to $400 to repair this.”

NHTSA complaint #10344780, filed 2010-07, 96,331 miles

“The car is a month old. I was driving and heard a loud crash, the back window just crashed. I did contact the police, their was nothing that would have caused this to happen.I thank god no one was hurt and it was the back and not the front.”

NHTSA complaint #10105887, filed 2005-01, 2,000 miles

“I own a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor. The blower went out about 2 years ago. I had the blower motor replaced ($400.00) in january 2010 by expert tire (no Mitsubishi dealer nearby). About 5 months later, the fan stopped blowing again intermittently. I would have to turn the A/C completely off for a day and then it would start working again. Also, it is leaking into the driver side floorboard. Now, I have a musty smell anytime I get in the car. The A/C appears to be working fine now, but anytime I drive in the car for a couple of hours, it stops working again. …”

NHTSA complaint #10344051, filed 2010-07, 80,000 miles

“I purchased a 2004 Mitsubishi Endeavor from dave smith motors in september, 2005. It has been in the shop for repairs 6 times. Once they replaced a falsely sealed front windshield, twice they repaired the heater core, and once they repaired the drive line. The 2 other visits were for initial inspection and estimate . Now it smells like burning electric wires and it is stalling while in motion. This car is unreliable and has been under repair for weeks! I am afraid to drive it because I never know when it is going to break down.”
