NHTSA complaint #730834, filed 2000-09“Consumer was traveling about 35mph on a off ramp and started to downshift, applied brakes with vehicle in right lane, and it drifted off into left. Consumer started to steer, and vehicle would not turn at all, causing an accident. Consumer stated when he attempted to brake, he could not, then down shifted vehicle to try and slow it down which did not help, consumer was unable to maintain control of the steering.”
