“The brake switch malfunctioned. There is failure of the brake lamps to illuminate when the brakes are applied. This can result in an accident. I was told that my particular vehicle was not included in the initial recall for this issue. This vehicle should be included in the recall.”
NHTSA complaint #10448549, filed 2012-02, 41,000 miles“The headlights on my 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander ls suddenly stopped working while I was driving at night on a country road. The high beams worked fine. I had to leave them on when I was crossing other cars, which caused the other drivers to furiously flash their high beams on and off at me. It was very dangerous and scary! Took it to a local Mitsubishi dealer who first checked the fuses, then tried to fix the problem by replacing the multifunction switch next to the steering wheel, which did not help. They told me they would not charge me for the switch since it did not do the trick. …”
NHTSA complaint #11039152, filed 2017-10, 75,000 miles“Front suspension has a clunk everytime you turn and start from cero. Radio, backlight is to low and is impossible to read it with sunlight in cold weather the vents for the A/C cycles every 15 seconds and headlight, interior light dim every time. People think you are changing lights when driving at night because of this cycling of vents going on with the A/C on. The system is not normal working. Every Outlander has the same issue. Is kind of annoying to drive at night with the light dimming every 15 to 30 seconds.”
NHTSA complaint #10211513, filed 2007-12, 50 miles“My vehicle has been recalled. Mitsubishi insists I take it to one of their dealerships. The nearest dealership is 228 miles and 3.5 hours roundtrip. I believe they should allow me to go a different local dealership that is 20 mins. Roundtrip to fix the problem and that they should pay for it as well. It is their mistake why do I have to pay for it with my time and money? Please help.”
NHTSA complaint #10663228, filed 2014-12“The contact's son-in-law owns a 2007 Mitsubishi Outlander. The contact stated that the vehicle had been gifted to her grandson by his father, however when the vehicle was being inspected the contact noticed that the rear tail lights had not illuminated when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed and was not repaired. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 14V564000 (Exterior Lighting), however the vehicle was not part of the VIN selection. …”
