2004: “As I pulled out of the campground, the trailing arm on the passenger side broke allowing the rear axle to slip forcing the motorhome to veer sharply to the right. If I had been traveling at highway speed results would have been total lose of control. After searching monaco blogs, I found this is a problem that monaco has known about for years.”
NHTSA complaint #10485019, filed 2012-11, 30,536 miles2002: “In june 2010, while on my way to church annual conference, my right rear brake overheated and melted the ABS sensor. I called for roadside assistance and he found the problem, got the brake released and I finished my trip with no problems. Then in august 2010, while on my way to paintsville kentucky , my left front brake overheated. I was able to get stopped before the sensor melted and put a fan on the brake area and cooled it off. It was then free and I was able to continue on my trip with no additional problems. …”
NHTSA complaint #10382531, filed 2011-02, 21,750 miles2001: “I own a 2001 monaco Knight which I bought in 2006. We took a trip with our rv on 9/19/2008 and the brakes seized up. This caused the brake pads, rotors, bearings and oil reservoir to fail. While driving I smelled something, so I stopped to find out what the problem was. The wheels were actually smoking, it had not broke out into a fire yet, but I am sure it would have if I kept driving. I searched the web and found recall number 02v278000, monaco's recall number r02175 which described the exact same problem. …”
