NHTSA complaint #11363619, filed 2020-10, 255,900 miles

“Fuel filler problem: the vehicle (1999 Nissan Altima) will only take a small amount of fuel at a time (length of filler neck) and then pump shuts off as the fuel overflows and drains into tank. It is also impossible to completely fill the tank; it only wants to holds approximately 3/4 of its capacity. This is not only annoying, but a safety concern because fuel spills onto the vehicle and ground since there is no fuel filler butterfly valve at the top of the neck.”

NHTSA complaint #10033470, filed 2003-08, 69,500 miles

The contact took his vehicle to the dealer to be repaired according to NHTSA campaign id number 07v435000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and cap). A technician stated that it would only take several hours for the repair. The following day he called the dealer and was informed that the vehicle was not repaired. The contact is still waiting to receive possession of the vehicle. The failure and current mileages were 116,000.”

NHTSA complaint #10273292, filed 2009-06, 116,000 miles

“The contact owns a 1999 Nissan Altima. The contact stated that the check engine soon light illuminated and the vehicle would only accept half to three quarters of a tank of fuel. The mechanic stated that the fuel filter tube was rusted and would not allow the fuel tank to be filled, without fuel escaping from the tank. The contact stated that there was a safety recall on the same component of other Nissan vehicles except his, even though it was experiencing the same failure. The current mileage was 80,000 and failure mileage was 75,000. *updated 12/27/07”
