“I have a 2006 Nissan Altima - great condition, garage kept car - floor boards are rotted out on the driver and passenger side where a plug is suppose to be. Nissan dealership said that some of the cars got sealed and have no issues where other cars were not sealed and those ones are rusting away like mine. I have no other rust on this vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10609509, filed 2014-07, 95,400 miles

“I have experienced many rust issues with my 2006 Nissan Altima. By far the worst is the risk of my feet going through the floormat due to rust of the floorboards. It is experienced on the driver's side, as well as a slight rust of the passengers side. I fear that I am in harm and can not afford the repair to make sure I am safe in my car. I have been using my car lightly for the last 4 years”

NHTSA complaint #10818298, filed 2016-01, 98,000 miles

“Passenger side floor rusted away - about 16 x 8 damaged area. Must have started long ago, but I only caught it recently and today I began to try to repair it, but the damage is much worse than what I could initially see. This is a known design flaw with altimas in this age range, but Nissan is ignoring.”

NHTSA complaint #10872309, filed 2016-06, 150,000 miles

“My 2006 Nissan Altima's floorboard is rusting through on the drivers side. This is a known defect that Nissan takes no responsibility for and my local dealership admitted as much. There is an engineering defect that causes this particular spot to be vulnerable to rust. This could become a safety issue.”

NHTSA complaint #10682774, filed 2015-02, 100,000 miles

“Took my Nissan Altima to the dealership for some work. The service dept. Called to tell me there was an issue with the floorboards. And the car would pass inspection. I called Nissan and they said there is nothing they can do. I bought the car three years ago as a certified Nissan with a 100000 mile warranty. The car had about 35000 miles on it when I bought it.”
