“My dashboard is sticky and cracking in many places. It also gets so hot in the summer that I was removing something from it and my fingernail took a piece of the dash. My car is garage kept and when parked in the sun, sun shields are used. I noticed this issue in july of last year. Nissan dealer said warranty would not cover it and there was nothing that could be done.”

NHTSA complaint #10854908, filed 2016-04, 60,000 miles

“Dashboard is melting!!!!! It is making the dashboard very shiny and it is so hard to see from the glare! I have had several almost accidents from not being able to see. Clearly this is a default in the material of the dash. I see several others are having the same problem! This needs to be recalled before someone is killed from this stupid default!”

NHTSA complaint #10631102, filed 2014-09, 90,000 miles

“The dashboard on my 2008 Nissan Altima coupe is melting away cause of the sun. I have read blogs online saying im not the only one with this problem. It makes it very difficult to drive during the day because of the reflective glare on the windshield. Im afraid it make cause an accident. I limit driving during the day because of this issue. Please help!!!”

NHTSA complaint #10625972, filed 2014-08, 56,000 miles

“The dashboard is melting, getting shiny and sticky. The sun reflects off the dashboard onto the windshield, obscuring vision. This creates a serious safety hazard. The first time this occurred, my vision was pretty much blinded. Had the vehicle in front of me elected to stop or slow down at that time, there would have been an accident.”

NHTSA complaint #10604905, filed 2014-06, 48,000 miles

“My dashboard has melted creating a terrible glare that is not just distracting while driving but dangerous because I cannot see through my windshield during the day or when on coming headlights come towards me during the night. Not only is it terribly dangerous but the melting is making my dash sticky causing parking passes to stick and leave residue.”
