“I have a 2009 Nissan Altima with just over 13000 miles on it. Last week as I was driving to work at about 65 MPH I heard what sounded like a shotgun blast over my head. The sunroof glass had shattered (more like exploded) leaving about a 2 foot circular hole in the glass. At first I thought something must have hit me but when I pulled over I could obviously see that the glass was mushroomed out as if it had exploded from the inside out, not pushed in. …”

NHTSA complaint #10379898, filed 2011-02, 13,000 miles

“My car it would not start. There was absolutely no activation of the ignition system. After following all trouble shooting advice in the car's manual, I towed the car to dealer where they stated an open circuit in steering control unit is not telling the control unit that the steering wheel is unlocked and ready to start. The steering lock control unit (part# 487009n00b) needed to be replaced. This is all part of the vehicle anti-theft immobilizer system. The cost to replace this unit was $1,062.90. I feel this is a serious safety flaw in the 2009 Nissan Altima. 1. …”

NHTSA complaint #10482796, filed 2012-10, 51,000 miles

“I recently (12/30/08) bought a 09 Nissan Altima 2.5sl with connection package and within the first week of driving the car I came across an issue with the stereo. I turned on the car as I have for the past week by pressing the start button, but this time the stereo sound wasn't coming through the speakers. I cycled through the stereo modes (am/fm/xm/cd) and adjusted the volume up and all I heard was a consistent buzz coming through the speakers. I then turned off the car and restarted the vehicle where the stereo worked perfectly. …”

NHTSA complaint #10255329, filed 2009-01, 720 miles

“Traveling on the highway at about 70 MPH, the air bag indicator went off signaling that there was no air bag. The next day, it went off signaling or indicating that there was no air bag, but only on the passenger side.”

NHTSA complaint #10716858, filed 2015-05, 93,000 miles

“My dashboard is melting because of the sun. I contacted the Nissan dealership and they said they can't help me because my warranty expired. It is very difficult to see out my windshield because of the shiny glare from the dashboard melting. This makes driving extremely hazardous.”
