“Problem with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). I'm driving on a road with 2 lanes in my direction at about 35 mph. Approached a curve that makes a slight left turn in the road. There happens to be a bicyclist on the curve. As the car reaches a position where the bicyclist is in direct frontal view of the vehicles cameras/radar, the AEB activates, even though we're both on the curve and I'm not going to hit the bicyclist. …”
NHTSA complaint #11594677, filed 2024-06“on 10/22/2026 at approximately 4:40pm the vehicle started beeping and came to an abrupt stop, there was nothing in front of vehicle to solicit this response. The vehicle suffered a critical safety failure involving un-commanded phantom braking that nearly caused a severe rear-end collision. This caused the other vehicle that almost hit me to become enraged, insult and cuss me out and chase me down up the road. This was not operator error, and had an accident occured, it would have looked like the operator was at fault for coming to an abrupt stop.”
NHTSA complaint #11773161, filed 2026-10“The rear windshield shattered ~ while driving for no reason. I did have the rear defrost on, but it was 60 degrees out, so that should not have happened. I've used it in the winter when it was below zero and nothing happened then. Now I'm afraid to use it at all. Just a giant pain having it replaced & now I'm scared. AND as a result, there's glass all over the driveway which will likely puncture a tire and they're telling me to get my car detailed because they can't remove all the glass from inside either. Unbelievable hassle I don't have time for. …”
NHTSA complaint #11761557, filed 2026-09“The contact owns a 2024 Nissan Kicks. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 MPH, the crash indicator warning light illuminated, but there were no other vehicles nearby. The contact stated that on another occasion, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the Lane Departure lines on the instrument panel and the crash indicator warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that within 9 days of owning the vehicle, the rear window glass exploded without impact after sitting alone for approximately 8 hours. …”
