Example complaints

Visibility (wipers, defrost, mirrors): “My Nissan Kicks SV was sitting in my carport, with no temperature extremes and no weather when the back windshield exploded. I called the College Station Texas Nissan dealership and they said that my warranty did not cover the exploded windshield. My car is less than 2 years old and only has 13, 015 miles on it. The dealership told me it would cost me over 400.00 dollars to have the windshield replaced. I have explored the internet and found out that this is a recurring thing that happens to Nissan vehicles. Mine is not the first. …”

NHTSA complaint #11700078, filed 2025-11

Other or unknown: “While driving my 2024 Nissan Kicks, I experienced an unexpected issue where the vehicle shifted from park to reverse. As usual, the doors automatically unlocked when I pulled up, and I exited the vehicle. However, just as I stepped out and turned away, the car unexpectedly jumped from park into reverse, causing critical injury to me. I have obtained an attorney.”

NHTSA complaint #11627968, filed 2024-11

Forward collision avoidance: “Problem with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). I'm driving on a road with 2 lanes in my direction at about 35 mph. Approached a curve that makes a slight left turn in the road. There happens to be a bicyclist on the curve. As the car reaches a position where the bicyclist is in direct frontal view of the vehicles cameras/radar, the AEB activates, even though we're both on the curve and I'm not going to hit the bicyclist. …”

NHTSA complaint #11594677, filed 2024-06

Electrical system: “The main infotainment display screen in my 2024 Nissan Kicks failed prematurely and blacked out completely, rendering the backup camera and rear cross-traffic safety systems entirely inoperable. This failure poses an immediate safety hazard to myself and pedestrians, as I am forced to drive and back up daily with zero rear visibility, completely losing essential safety features regulated by federal standards. The defect has been officially inspected and confirmed by an authorized Nissan dealership service center on two separate occasions. …”
