“Window fogs up regularly and more intense in the summer. After a complete cleaning job, the windows fog up again. It causes major visibility problem during the day when the sun hits the windshield, and at night when oncoming vehicles lights hit the windshield. I took the car to the dealer where they did the 60k miles service and inspected the car, and wasn't able to fix this problem. I called Nissan 800 # and they weren't able to help me either.”

NHTSA complaint #10086252, filed 2004-08, 50,000 miles

“We purchased a 1995 Nissan Maxima gle in 1997 from peruzzi Nissan in fairless hills, pa. For an amount equal to about eight (8) percent of the final sale price, we also purchased an 84-month or 100,000 mile Nissan security+plus vehical protection plan. At around 48 months and with less than 80,000 miles on the odometer, we were informed the plan had expired. It turns out that Nissan's plan starts on the date the vehicle first left the showroom, a.k.a. The original in-service date (which in our case was june, 1994), not the date on which a consumer buys the same car as used. …”

NHTSA complaint #10070473, filed 2004-01, 90,000 miles

“Power window on drivers side door got stuck in door and burned out regulator and power window motor. Approximate cost to fix is $400+ at an autobody shop, which informed me this is a very common problem with Nissan Maxima's 1991-1995, so common that Nissan has problems keeping it in stock. The dealer said there are no recalls on this vehicle. I find this unacceptable and hard to believe that the dealer would not consider this a recall. I feel I, as the consumer, am paying for a known problem and Nissan does not wish to disclose it. Please investigate and advise.”

NHTSA complaint #709324, filed 1999-07

“Windshield wiper stopped for 5-10 seconds during heavy rain. Didn't respond to turning switch off/on or to different setting. Has occured 5-6 times over the last several months. Intemittent failure. Very dangerous.”
