“I have a 2004 Nissan Maxima that I bought new in 2003 in california. Within months to the first year, I have had continuous problems with the front end. I've had my wheels aligned, tires balance numerous times and checked due to a shimmy in the steering wheel, tires wearing unevenly and a clanking or thumping noise in the front right when going over a bump. These problems I have had for years and complained continuously. Had the car in the shop many times for these problems, but to no avail. Nissan fixed noise after 5 times in the shop in 2004 and 2005. …”

“Purchased car in july of 2007 four brand new chrome wheels from the dealer. By september of 2007 chrome began to peel on the inside of the wheel between the spokes on all four tires. Took it to the dealer in november and was told the best they could do was pay 50% of all costs. I called consumer affairs and they stated the same thing. I explained I couldn't afford the $1,500 it would costs me and that the dealer should warrant the cost since this incurred six months after I purchased the car. I refused the offer and continued driving on the peeling wheels. …”

NHTSA complaint #10225481, filed 2008-04, 65,000 miles

“Purchased 2004 Nissan Maxima 3.5 se in july, 2003. It has aluminum wheels ( rims ) and low profile tires. In march, 2005, I hit a pothole, which flattened the front passenger tire and dented the rim. I had to change the tire, and then replaced that rim (tire was ok). In may, 2005, my front driver tire was low. I drove a half mile at 20 MPH to the closest gas station and filled the tire. I took it to the dealer to investigate why it was low. They noted that the rim was cracked, said it was dangerous to drive that way, and put the donut spare on in place of the cracked rim. …”

NHTSA complaint #10122118, filed 2005-05, 24,942 miles

“Anti-lock brakes engage almost every time brake is applied. Tsb says rust has to be cleaned out of the right rear wheel hub and a drain hole has to be added, right rear ABS($250 +) sensor has to be replaced, with possible replacement of ABS actuator($1000 +) required.”

NHTSA complaint #10509509, filed 2013-04, 167,300 miles

“The ABS control module on the Nissan 2004 is not only faulty but dangerous. The problem comes from a short on the passenger rear wheel sensor short which in turns causes the ABS module to fail. The ABS motor will run even without the key in the ignition causing the battery and motor to become very hot.”
