“This is the second time the brakes have malfunctioned but this time we were able to get dashcam footage. Brake pedal maintained pressure like normal but did not slow the vehicle at first. It felt like braking on ice. Pumping brakes eventually brought the brakes back online. The first time this happened, we nearly hit the car in front of us because we had to brake quickly (original complaint stated pedal went to the floor -- I think this was in error due to excitement of the moment). This brake malfunction has happened twice in the past 2 months. …”
NHTSA complaint #11185511, filed 2019-03, 50,000 miles“While driving in traffic on a dry, straight road at about 35mph, traffic started to slow for a red light. The brake pedal went to the floor with no resistance and had no effect on vehicle speed. Frantically pumping the brake pedal gradually increased brake pedal resistance. After gaining brake pedal resistance, the vehicle came to a screeching halt, activating ABS and narrowly averting an accident. This has only occurred once, on 19 dec 2018 and, to date, has not reoccurred. …”
