“2014 Nissan Pathfinder all four wheel hubs began rusting soon after purchase. Car is now 6 months old with hubs completely rusted...this should be recalled as it is a serious problem. I have two Nissan pathfinders, one 2012 and one 2014..both maintained to same standards. I have no rust on my 2012 but 2014 is looking terrible. This is a dangerous problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10604261, filed 2014-06, 10,000 miles

“Rear axles in new 2014 Nissan Pathfinder 3 months old with 5000 miles has severely rusted rear axles. Seems axles were made with cheap materials that are becoming heavily rusted. Front axles have no problems.”

NHTSA complaint #10594878, filed 2014-05, 5,000 miles

“Rear subframe completely rotted through causing excessive tire wear and very poor handling with the car only having 150,000 miles on it and the transmission shutters even with the recommended transmission oil changes and also the brake light switch will fail and I won’t be able to accelerate I thought I was buying a nice trustworthy car for my daughter but nothing but problems!”

NHTSA complaint #11773463, filed 2026-10

“Rear suspension cross member has virtually rusted through where the trailing arm attaches. If the cross member actually separates, the rear wheel will ride largely free and the driver will likely lose control of the vehicle. While slowing down on the expressway, I could feel the movement in the rear end of my vehicle. Upon inspection, I found the rusted cross member and the significant play in what should not have been moving.”

NHTSA complaint #11771464, filed 2026-10

“Heard loud clunk from passenger rear of vehicle, then started hearing binding clunk noise from rear when going over bumps or turning at certain points. Inspection of rear suspension area on rear passenger side revealed a sub-frame that had rusted to the point a suspension part had broken from the frame and was sitting in a hole in the sub frame instead. Surrounding areas of undercarriage not rusted like the sub frame was.... …”
