“The driver's seat-belt on this Nissan Sentra cannot be applied when parked on a hill. There are only solutions that work: place the seat-belt over the steering wheel when parking, and remembering to sit-back down without allowing the belt to return to the unused position when buckling back up. The other solution is to drive without wearing your seat-belt until you reach a surface flat enough that the seat-belt mechanism disengages enough to allow you to buckle up. Obviously, both solutions are unrealistic and represent a real safety risk for motorists. …”
NHTSA complaint #11048178, filed 2017-11, 50,000 miles“The contact owns a 2007 Nissan Sentra. While driving approximately 20 MPH, the contact heard a loud popping sound coming from the front end of the vehicle. She also noticed that the seat belt warning indicator was illuminated on the instrument control panel. She is in the process of notifying the dealer to determine the cause of the failure. The failure and current mileages were 21,239.”
