“The dashboard instrument panel will just go completely blank: the odometer, gas, cruise control will either freeze where it is or will go down to zero. The cruise control will not work and had even started to affect the gas pedal. Driving down the road at 55+MPH I had power everywhere except the gas pedal. I contacted my dealership and they said there was nothing they could do unless I could bring it in when it was not working, which was very hard to do because it would stop working at different times and for different lenghts of time. Sometimes for a few minutes and sometimes for hours. …”
NHTSA complaint #768805, filed 2002-10“When cruise control is on, it kicks out and the dashboard cruise light flashes rapidly, consumer is then unable to reestablish cruise control when this occurs the light continues to flash until the cruise control is deactivated using the rocker switch, when the panel is malfunctioning, the cruise control rocker can be turned on, but cruise control will not engage from the steering control.”
