“After less than three years of owning the car the driver's side window just stopped going down one day. The service dept. At my local Nissan dealer said he thought there'd been a recall, but Nissan said there was none. This is the third major thing I've had to have replaced that was later a recall. They need to take care of this.”

NHTSA complaint #10095635, filed 2004-10, 55,000 miles

“Windows fell into the door as I was opening it. From what I read this is a common problem with Nissan vehicles power windows regulators. This could cause an accident because it could scare a driver into thinking their window exploded.”

NHTSA complaint #10056256, filed 2004-01, 63,000 miles

“I have a 2000 Nissan Xterra that I have had no complaints about since I purchased it in august of 2001. My wife and I currently rolled 55,000 on the odometer. Last week when I got into my truck after a long day at the office my driver side window would not roll down. Due to the warm weather I leave my windows half way. It rolled up fine however would not go down. Today while researching how to take off my door panels . I came across dozens of complaints with people all over the us experiencing the same problems . …”

NHTSA complaint #10082580, filed 2004-07, 55,000 miles

“In may 2005 the power window for the driver's door on my 2000 Xterra (4wd-v6) began to only go up intermittently (no problem going down). Now the driver's window will not go up at all. The other three windows (passenger and rear) are also beginning to exhibit intermittent and slow movement in the upward direction. A test of the controller and motor indicate the components are receiving power. As I understand it, other Nissan models (altima & pathfinder) and 01-02 Xterra with similar components have the same problem and have been recalled.”

NHTSA complaint #10150383, filed 2006-02

“The contact owns a 2000 Nissan Xterra. While driving at any speed, the steering wheel seized and made an abnormal noise when turned to the right. In addition, the brake pedal had to be depressed with force in order to bring the vehicle to a stop. The contact also stated that the driver side window would not close. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but the diagnosis was not available. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 147,300.”
