“Several times since owning the Xterra while driving in rain or snow, the back tires slide constantly and the rear goes out of control. I almost caused an accident due to my vehicle losing control also while driving 25 MPH very little rain on a curving road my vehicle's rear started spinning out of control almost killing my 4 passengers and I. There has to be a defect in the rear suspension of the vehicle. Nissan own up to your responsibilities!!!”
NHTSA complaint #10014237, filed 2003-04, 37,000 miles“The contact owns a 2000 Nissan Xterra equipped with bf goodrich radial long trail t/a tires. Size p265/70/r15. The contact stated that the vehicle began to violently shake while driving 50 MPH. The vehicle was then stopped and the contact noticed that the tread on the rear driver's tire tore away from the tire. A spare tire was installed as a replacement. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered to replace the failed tire. The approximate failure mileage was unknown. The VIN was unavailable.”
