“My daughter had just purchased a 2005 Nissan Xterra, the day before her accident. She was traveling on a roadway approaching a curve in the road when the front right tire locked up causing the vehicle to pull slightly right and fail to respond to counter steer. The vehicle left the roadway and went into the grass began to spin sideways and struck a hydrant and flip 2.5 times resting on its roof. I saw where there was several recalls, but when I enter the VIN its had no open recalls on the specific VIN. Although, this same exact problem has occurred in the same models.”

NHTSA complaint #11186049, filed 2019-03, 137,350 miles

“I have a 2005 Nissan Xterra 4-wheel drive. While driving it in snow, ice, wet roads or simply stopping quickly, I hear a horrible grinding noise from the front end. It happens when I apply the brakes coming to a stop. It has to be a condition where the wheels may lock up. Also, the brakes let the vehicle loose for several feet and/or seconds before the grinding begins. I am used to the fluctuation of the brake pedal with an ABS system. However, I had never heard a sound that reminded me of grinding aluminum cans in a coffee mill. …”

NHTSA complaint #10329707, filed 2010-05, 6,000 miles

“Left and right rear axle seals blew out and leaked differential fluid. Differential fluid leaking on rear brake rotors which could cause brake failure, which was a major safety concern to me. At time of failure no suspension modifications had been done to vehicle. Also, the rear differential oil will slowly leak and cause the rear differential to lose fluid and fail. The leaking differential fluid has also contaminated the parking/emergency brake shoes and they will not hold or slow vehicle.”

NHTSA complaint #10486084, filed 2012-11, 105,236 miles

“Airbag light stays on then about a month ago it started stalling and didn't want to take off almost got me killed. And now the o2 sensors blink is on and shift solenoid what's next I love my Nissan but it's almost gotten me killed 4 times.”
