NHTSA complaint #11000500, filed 2017-06, 155,000 miles

“Check engine light came on, took my truck to the dealer to have a diagnostic check, was told by the service staff that the transmission was contaminated with coolant that had leaked from the radiator. Upon further research, I discovered that other Nissan makes, models between 2004-2006 had a design flaw which caused the problem in which I now face.. I contacted Nissan for some financial assistance on the repair on my transmission, since it appears that the issues related to my problem are from a flaw in the designs of the vehicle. …”

“I had a head on collision in the 2006 Nissan Xterra. While driving approximately 40 MPH when I hit the side of a pickup truck. Neither the driver's or passenger's air bags deployed. The fire department said that with this type of impact they should have deployed. The Nissan body shop where the car was located also said they were shocked that with the extent of the damage that they didn't deploy.”

NHTSA complaint #10191492, filed 2007-05, 21,000 miles

“The airbag deactivator sensor, located inside the passenger side seat of our Nissan Xterra leaked the fluid inside the car. Our first indication of a problem was a burning feeling in the throat, nose and eyes. The coins in the car turned green. We discovered the leak and removed the seat from the car. The local dealership did not know what was in the fluid filled sensor and made no attempt to find out. Our insurance company has been trying for 2 weeks to get an answer from Nissan on this product with no results. …”

NHTSA complaint #10345919, filed 2010-07, 65,000 miles

“I have a 2006 Nissan Xterra off road edition. It is a manual and I paid for the $700 for the extra airbags. They are side impact/rollover air curtain airbags. Nissan advertises this vehicle as an off road vehicle, this was one of the main reasons I got this vehicle, to go off roading in. I have 12,000 miles on my Xterra. On september 30th I was heading up to the mountains to go 4 wheeling. I was on a dirt road that took me to the trail head of this 4x4 trail. On this dirt road my airbags went off. Both side impact airbags went off, thankfully not the front airbags. …”
