NHTSA complaint #10376376, filed 2011-01, 130,000 miles

“I want to report the ignition switch on a 1999 olds Alero v6. I have replaced the ignition switch on my car 3 times now since aug. 2013. There has to be an electrical issue becasue my security light come on and my air conditioner does not come on. So I had it tested and its not getting any electrical to it to come on. And that is exactly the way it happens evertime. So I was wondering if there was a recall or would they be one in near future.... Becasue I dont 300-400 everytime it goes out.”

NHTSA complaint #10732502, filed 2015-07, 280,000 miles

“Secuirty light on 1999 Oldsmobile Alero comes on and car will not start for over 10 mins. This causes me to fuel my car with the car engine running because I do not want to take the chance of it not starting. Sometimes it takes 3 trys before it starts and that is over 30 minutes of wait time. One day it may not start at all. Ongoing problem with the other Alero owners. Oldsmobile needs to issue a recall on this problem.”

NHTSA complaint #10281538, filed 2009-08, 93,500 miles

“I had the recall done but my car keeps dying and when the car is running I can now remove my key and engine stays running. The security light comes on all the time and I have to sit and wait at least 10 min for car to start. I have a baby and with this cold weather plus being stranded is not safe. I was told all the dealer did was a new key/insert. The whole ignition lock assembly should be replaced under a new recall. The dealer told me for $100 diagnostic fee that could look at the car. Never did this until the dealer did the repair.”

NHTSA complaint #10671135, filed 2015-01, 170,000 miles

“Check engine light came on and security light started to blink when we got back from a trip. We took it in and the diagnostic check revealed that the knock sensor was bad. So that was replaced. (code 00327). But now the light still keeps coming on for the same code even though it's already been fixed.”
