“I have owned this 01 Alero for 7 months now and have had problems since day one. I first had to replaced the front brakes, calipers & pads & rotors. Then my ABS speed sensor went so I had to replace that too. Now whenever I hit the brakes they grind and sometimes fail to work. For a 01 this car has given me way too many problems. Sometimes I am scared to drive it in bumper to bumper traffic with the fear of the brakes not working!”

“I have had to replace 4 engines 2.4l on my 2001 Oldsmobile Alero. My last engine lasted 32 days after I spent 1200$ and now I need to have work done to it again.”

NHTSA complaint #10074521, filed 2004-05, 76,000 miles

“The heating/air conditioning fan control knob only works on the 3rd or 4th selection. It started about 6 months ago and keeps moving up a notch. This is to be true on several Alero's of this year. Will there be a recall on this?”

NHTSA complaint #10052983, filed 2004-01, 25,000 miles

“In feb. 2003 I had surgery and did not drive my car for about a week. When I finally drove my car, my drivers side window would not roll down. A couple of days later it started working and now has a grinding noise to it. Recently my horn stopped working completely. I replaced the relay switch and it still will not work. Now, my turn signals work whenever they want to. The only way I can get them to work is to press my hazard switch and now it is getting to where it will not work. And last but not least my air conditioner is not blowing properly. …”

NHTSA complaint #10014392, filed 2003-04

“I've had numerous problems with this car from time of purchase. I have 9 pages that lists the defects of this. I would never recommend anyone buy this car. I didn't list the electrical problems I've had from rear lights not working, dome light fell off, blinker stopped working. Windows making a crackling noise when rolling up or down, and doors jamming for no reason. I didn't want problems with my vehicle that is why I purchased a new one, but I still have major defects! The issue with the engine taking a while to finally start, has never been fixed.”
