“I purchased a GM certified 2000 Pontiac Bonneville in may 2002. Since that time I have had to replace 3 window regulators in the vehicle, one for the drivers door and one each for the back doors. This seems to be quite excessive for a vehicle that is only 5 years old & has less than 80k miles on it. Further, I have a small child so I can count on one hand the number of times that I have lowered the rear windows. I am confident that this is not a wear-and-tear issue, since I have replaced both regulators with GM parts and as I stated seldom roll the windows down. …”

NHTSA complaint #10135809, filed 2005-09, 17,000 miles

“I have had my 2000 Bonneville in the shop several times for various reasons. My radio had to be replaced, my drivers side window stopped working and they replaced the motor, now my passenger side window does not work and needs to be repaired. My trunk leaked and was told the extended warrenty did not cover it and the expense was on me. My air conditioner would blow cold air and then hot air or not blow cold air at all, it was in the shop 2-3 times for that. Now my car hesitates when speeding up and you can feel it jerking into gear when it shifts between 1st and 2nd gear or 2nd and 3rd. …”

NHTSA complaint #10074864, filed 2004-06, 97,000 miles

“Car started chugging in city driving, then stopped. Single hiss and large puff of smoke from under the hood. Pushed car out of traffic and got it towed to a garage. They told us that we had a fire, caused by A/C hose burst spilling freon onto exhaust manifold, causing flash fire which burned through the main wire harness and back bank of plug wires. Car deemed total loss by insurance company as repairs would cost more than $5000.”

NHTSA complaint #10166046, filed 2006-08, 88,000 miles

“The contact owns a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville. In april of 2005, the air conditioning failed in the vehicle. When the air conditioning was reactivated, it made a loud noise and hot air was dispensed. The contact took the vehicle in for repair and was informed that the motor could not take pressure from the air conditioning being activated. The contact paid for the repair; however, the air conditioning still does not work. In addition, the rear passenger side window and the front driver's side window fail to roll down. The window failure has been occurring for the past three years. …”
