“I had barely hit a curb pulling into the bank parking when my brake pad wouldn't stop. At less than 7mph. My air bags had deployed leaving me jarred, and in a shock I could not move. I sat locked in to my safetybelt until the construction worker down roadpulled me out to safety. Such a mils hit. Blew my airbags.. In return, damaged my windshield, dash, and, steering column. I was turning into a bank parking lot. Considered a private lot.”
NHTSA complaint #11183308, filed 2019-02, 200,000 miles“I was driving at 40mph on freeway about to exit a vehicle cut me off. Slam brakes and brakes locked and made pulsations (I thought it was ABS but later found out my vehicle is not equiped with ABS) steering wheel locked to the left and hit a van on the side. 4 people injured.”
NHTSA complaint #10576746, filed 2014-04, 110,000 miles“I first noticed that when turning there was a grinding noise. I took it to a shop and was told the front passenger control arm needed replaced. I recently took my car to the dealership for the ignition switch recall and found out that the speed harness needs replaced and that is what's causing the light for ABS/tc to be serviced. I have researched both of these issues with this specific vehicle and it appears to be a widespread issue. What constitutes a recall?”
NHTSA complaint #10779818, filed 2015-10, 70,000 miles“My mother was killed in a head on collision in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix. She was traveling south bound on a street called hewitt when her left the lane for no known reason and hit a car traveling north bound head on dying with in seconds of the accident. The police did not know why this happened . There were no skid marks from braking nor gouges nor anything that showed she tried to brake or avoid hitting this car. I had just talked to her 20min before her death. …”
NHTSA complaint #10704204, filed 2015-04, 102,000 miles“On february 8, 2019, my mother was pulling into a maintenance garage to get an oil change. Upon pulling into the garage, she was unable to stop and her vehicle lunged forward. As a result, he vehicle hit an employee, went through the maintenance garage door, through the parking lot, across a four lane street, and eventually stopped in a field across the street from the oil change venue. This is an approximate distance of 300 feet. Upon further review by my mechanic, it was discovered the ABS system was malfunctioning causing the brake pedal to drop in the car, and the car not to stop. …”
