“My heat/air conditioning has gone out twice. It will only work if the fan is wide open and will not cut off once you turn the switch off, therefore draining the battery. Also, every time it rains my passenger floor boards front and back are saturated with water. This is a safety issue due to the fact I have no way to defrost my windows in the wintertime and can't see to drive. I'm sure the flooding has something to due with shorting out the blower on my air/heat.I don't think I should have to continue to pay to have this repaired. Once should be enough.”
NHTSA complaint #11079483, filed 2018-03, 130,000 miles“Our 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix has had two failures of the heater motor in three years. In both cases noxious fumes and smoke came from the dashboard. I consider this a safety issue because the sight of smoke coming from the dashboard while on a busy interstate (we were) can result in great anxiety. I'm an electrical engineer and my mechanic let me see the parts. The smoke came from a resistor that is part of the speed control for the motor. It's a very poor design, with heat fins to dissipate the heat into the heater/AC air flow. …”
NHTSA complaint #10408910, filed 2011-06, 113,000 miles“In october 2011, I noticed that my a\c & heating fan was working intermittently. After a hard rain, the fan stopped working completely, and I noticed a large puddle of water on the passenger side floor. I decided not to have the blower motor replaced until after I could find the exact location of the water leak. In spring 2012, while washing my car, I noticed that the seal between the windshield and the hood is not properly connected, and that water could be pushed into a hole in the seal. The seal is not damaged - there is simply a gap between the seal and windshield. …”
NHTSA complaint #10477162, filed 2012-09, 92,000 miles“Left front passenger window went down with out any warning and did not come back up, another piece of crap and another idiotic piece of engineering by the Pontiac engineering dept. Broken cable on the power window system leading to total failure and having to replace the whole assembly.”
NHTSA complaint #10373507, filed 2010-12, 111,200 miles“Heads up display on 2004 Grand Prix failed due to control spring becoming free due to premature part failure of the plastic arm. This leave a blackish/grayish square on the windshield where creates a driving nuisance- where the hud should be. This part failure is mentioned numerous times on the internet, thus leaving the owners with a $600-700 repair in which there isn't a new part but instead a rebuilt one put in.”
